Our Services

We can provide premium cremation services at the lowest cost San Francisco has to offer, provided you meet the requirements below, and can use our automated system to complete the necessary paperwork and return it to us by fax. Price & Services

Our inclusive price for direct cremation is  $775.00.  This price includes:

  1. Picking up remains from a hospital, or San Francisco Medical examiner’s office*
  2. Refrigerated storage of remains while we obtain the permit for cremation.
  3. Completion of the necessary paperwork, (obtaining a death certificate signed by the appropriate physician)
  4. Filing a death certificate with the county of death and obtaining a permit for cremation. 
  5. Filing fees & taxes
  6. The cremation container,
  7. The cremation, and
  8. The plastic transportation urn the ashes are placed into to be shipped from our crematory in Emeryville, CA
  9. ;
  10. If remains are in excess of 250 lbs., there is an additonal $75 fee, over 300 lbs., $175, remains over 350 lbs. are not accepted by City Cremation.
There are no other required costs from City Cremation.


If you would like to order certified death certificates, we can obtain them for you. The San Francisco County Vital Records Office charges $12 for each Death Certificate. The Arrangement Assistant™ will advise as to how many certified copies you need, and will bill you accordingly. We will then order the certificates from the Department of Health, and mail the certificates along with the ashes.

For the above services, we accept payment in the form of MC, VISA, or AMEX.

*If the deceased is at the San Francisco Medical Examiner's office, you'll need to contact them regarding payment of their fees (their number is : 415.553.1694, they accept Master Card and Visa). We cannot remove remains until all Medical Examiner's fees are paid.


Requirements

In order to arrange a cremation with City Cremation, you must meet one of the following conditions:

  1. You are the next of kin.
  2. You have the next of kin's written permission to authorize cremation.
  3. You are the durable power of attorney for healthcare, and have the paperwork documenting it.


The Process

The Arrangement Assistant™ will guide you through the information gathering process. It will then print out the 9 required forms, completed with the information you entered and further instructions. You simply sign, initial, and date the forms as indicated. Then fax the forms, along with any other required documentation (i.e. next of kin's permission, the durable power of attorney of healthcare). Upon receiving the completed paperwork, City Cremation handles the rest. The ashes will be mailed to you in approximately 10 working days, or longer if death certificates were ordered. We have constant and full control of the remains from the moment we claim them to the time the ashes are shipped to you. If you ordered death certificates, they will be mailed also.
